The highest bid for a team in the inaugural Women’s T20 League came from Adani Sportsline Private Limited which is a sporting initiative undertaken by Gautam Adani, the founder and managing director of Adani Group. As one of the richest people in the world, he was determined to acquire his city-based Ahmedabad franchise and they paid a whopping sum of INR 1289 crore to acquire the women’s team from Gujarat.
They have roped in Australia’s serial winner Rachel Haynes as the head coach having retired from international and state cricket in 2022. Former India legend Mithali Raj will be the team’s advisor and mentor with India’s U19 World Cup winning coach Nooshin Al Khadeer assigned as the bowling coach. Tushar Arothe will be the batting coach for the team and Gavan Twining has been picked as the fielding coach.
Beth Mooney will captain the side with the wicket-keeping opener costing the franchise INR 2 crore and her national teammate Ashleigh Gardner was the team’s record signing with the all-rounder fetching INR 3.2 crore. Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Werham are the other two Australians on the team with Sophia Dunkley and Deandra Dottin completing the overseas roster. Sneh Rana will be the vice-captain of the side and Harleen Deol, Sabbhineni Meghna, Dayalan Hemalatha, Sushma Verma, and Mansi Joshi are some notable India internationals present in the side.
