The Indian Premier League 2024 is over, with Kolkata Knight Riders winning the title. The 17th season also saw Dinesh Karthik take the field for the last time in the tournament. He revealed that Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya sledged him, hinting at his retirement, when RCB took on the five-time champions.
Karthik spoke about the type of sledging he has to endure in his career. Royal Challengers Bengaluru made it to the playoffs but lost to the Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator.
Meanwhile, DK has scored over 5000 runs in 257 matches over 17 seasons. He accumulated 326 runs in 15 games in the recently concluded season.
“Virat Kohli never let go of a chance to sledge me. Ben Stokes was his favourite word. Hardik Pandya was after me this season. ‘Now the leg spinner will come and it will be his Thank You time. Then I played a couple of shots and he was like, ‘He has improved a bit,” Dinesh Karthik said.
“He is a good frined. He also said, ‘Even after becoming a commentator, he is working on his game’. That was fun. Rohit was also taunting me, giving me hopes for playing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024,” he added.
DK will be seen as a commentator in the upcoming global event in the West Indies and the USA.
