Uganda Jersey Ban : Even before the start of the T20 World Cup, the Ugandan team got caught in a big controversy. The International Cricket Council (ICC) banned Uganda's jersey. After this, Uganda had to change its jersey in a hurry. The board did not have much time left, that is why only a few changes have been made in the jersey.
Actually, the Uganda jersey launched for the T20 World Cup 2024 had a bird's wings near the shoulder. Due to this design, the sponsor logo was not visible properly. In such a situation, the ICC banned this jersey. This jersey of Uganda was inspired by the national bird Grey Crown Crane. However, after being banned by the ICC, the Uganda Board changed its jersey. The board said that there was not much time left and that is why a new jersey has been made by making 20 percent changes.
If we talk about Uganda, then for the first time this team will be seen playing in a big event like the T20 World Cup. The team has been placed in Group C, which includes teams from West Indies, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan. Uganda qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024 by performing well in the Africa Qualifier. The team finished second in that tournament and due to this they qualified for this big tournament. The team would like to perform better against big teams on the biggest stage in the world.
Let us tell you that the format of T20 World Cup 2024 is quite different this time. 20 teams have been divided into four groups. The top-2 team from each group will qualify for the Super-8. After this, the Super-8 teams will be divided into two groups and the top-2 teams from both the groups will go to the semi-finals. Now it remains to be seen how many matches the Ugandan team wins during the T20 World Cup.
