The Indian team is currently in New York, where they have to play against Ireland on June 5 at the newly built Nassau County International Stadium. Before this, they have to play a warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1. On one hand, while many experts of the cricket world are choosing Team India as the favorite to win the final, Clarke has now pointed out the biggest weakness of Rohit and company. The former Australian captain has made a big statement during a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo.
He said, I think India has taken a risk with the team it has selected. This team is very dependent on spin, which is completely different from the Australian team. However, I have also played in the Caribbean countries and my experience is that it depends on how you play spin in those conditions. India is the strongest contender to win the World Cup and it is a big threat to other teams.
The former Australian player further said, “If we look at the most favourite teams for the World Cup, it is India. They have played a lot of cricket recently and their preparation has been excellent. The conditions in the West Indies are quite different compared to India but their players are familiar with it.”
