Several young Indian players showed their class in the Indian Premier League 2024. Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals was among the top performers, crossing the 500-run mark for the first time in his career. Head coach Kumar Sangakkara promoted him in the batting order, which worked in his favour.

He not only silenced his criticism but also managed to put his name forward for the Indian team in the coming months. Former India players Irfan Pathan, Navjot Singh Sidhu, and Ambati Rayudu are convinced that Parag is ready to play for the Men in Blue. According to them, he should get an opportunity after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The right-handed batter played a crucial role in Rajasthan’s qualification for the playoffs. However, the 2008 champions lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2.

He was the third-highest run-scorer in the 17th season, amassing 573 runs in 16 matches at an average of 52.09 and a strike rate of 149.21. He hit four fifties, 40 fours, and 33 sixes.

However, despite his magnificent performance, the young batter was not satisfied.

“I am not satisfied,” he told Sportskeeda. “I had a good season, but I should have won more games for Rajasthan Royals. I was short in a few games, and I think I have to improve a lot. Even in the last contest against SRH, I should have finished it in favour of my franchise. I should have taken the match close to victory. I am happy but not satisfied,” he said.
