Gambhir said, “Our next mission is to make KKR the most successful team in the IPL. There would be no better feeling than this but the journey in that direction has just begun. We are still two trophies away from MI and CSK. I am satisfied today, but we are still not the most successful IPL franchise. To do that, we need to win the tournament three more times, and that will require a lot of effort.”

With Gambhir joining the team, Kolkata has been seen in a different rhythm this season. Gambhir made a lot of changes in the way the team plays cricket and it paid off and Kolkata Knight Riders won the title. KKR won 9 out of 14 matches in the league stage and lost only three games while two matches were washed out due to rain. They topped the points table. They defeated Hyderabad by 8 wickets in Qualifier 1 and qualified for the final.

Gautam Gambhir is in the news for the role of Team India's head coach. According to several media reports, Gambhir will join the team after Rahul Dravid's tenure ends after the T20 World Cup 2024.
