Lucknow: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the title for the third time by performing brilliantly in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Mentor Gautam Gambhir is believed to be the biggest reason behind such performance of KKR. Let us tell you that earlier for two years Gambhir played the role of mentor with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and before the start of this season, he was associated with the KKR team. It was only after joining Kolkata that Gautam made the team champion under his coaching.

The former Indian player says that he is not satisfied with Kolkata's victory because his team has become champion only 3 times. His aim is to make KKR the most successful team in the history of IPL. Let us tell you that this season Kolkata won the title for the third time under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. Earlier this team became champion in the year 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Now after winning the third title, KKR's mentor has given a big statement during a conversation with Sportskeeda.
He said, “I am still not satisfied after Kolkata's victory because we are still not the most successful franchise of IPL. We are still two trophies away from Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). To become the most successful franchise of IPL, we will have to win the tournament three more times and for this we will have to make hard efforts. My biggest goal is to make KKR the most successful team. The journey in this direction has just begun.”
Gambhir says that “When you play in IPL, your first thought is to qualify for the playoffs. When you get close to the playoffs, your goal is to finish in the top-2. After the top-2, you want to reach the final and win it. There is excitement and challenge at every step here. IPL is such a league where you cannot take any team lightly. This is such an exciting tournament that if you win it, you feel very good.”
