Virat Kohli is one of the most followed cricketers at the moment. However, his fandom has often created problems for former players. According to legendary New Zealand pacer Simon Doull, he is getting death threats for questioning Virat’s strike rate in T20 cricket.

Simon said that despite saying a lot of good things about the star batter, he has been at the recieving end for just one statement.

Doull has heaped massive praise on Kohli for his skills and consistency but he found that pointing fingers at Virat’s strike rate can lead to backlash from fans.

“Virat could have dominated more. He is a phenomenal player but he is afraid to get out because of his past experience and that is why I highlighted the strike rate issue.

“I said similar things about Babar Azam and he spoke to me about my statement when we met in Pakistan. Babar revealed that his coaches have similar viewpoints. I liked the way Virat Kohli hit sixes in IPL 2024,” Simon Doull said on Cricbuzz.

Doull feels Virat shouldn’t be worried about getting out. “I pointed out this issue and nothing else. I am getting death threats for this statement, which is a shame,” he added.

“I don’t have any personal problem. The game has become faster and the strike rate of 130-135 is not acceptable,” he concluded.

In 15 matches, Virat scored 741 runs at a strike rate 154.69 in IPL 2024.
