Yuzvendra Chahal ended his 2024 Indian Premier League season with an unwanted record up his sleeves. The Rajasthan Royals spinner has conceded the most sixes in IPL history. He achieved the unwanted feat in Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai. Chahal was hit for three sixes in the match by Heinrich Klaasen, who helped SRH get to 175/9 in 20 overs. Klaasen scored a fighting 50 from 34 balls. For RR, their pacers, led by Avesh Khan, did a fine job. However, RR were sheepish in response and lost the match by 38 runs. Dhruv Jurel’s unbeaten 56 wasn’t enough.

Chahal is the IPL’s highest wicket-taker and he had a decent season with 18 scalps under his belt. The senior Indian wrist-spinner is the top wicket-taker for both RCB and RR. However, he has also been guilty of being hit for sixes aplenty. On Friday, Chahal displaced Piyush Chawla for the most sixes conceded in the cash-rich league.

Yuzvendra Chahal – 224 sixes

As per ESPNcricinfoChahal has given away 224 sixes across 159 innings. In addition to 224 sixes, Chahal has also conceded 275 fours. Overall, he has conceded 4602 runs from 3521 balls (ER: 7.84). Chahal leads the wickets tally with 205 at an average of 22.44. In the IPL 2024 season, Chahal was smashed for 30 sixes, the most by a bowler. This is the second-most sixes hit against a bowler in an IPL season. Mohammed Siraj gave away 31 sixes in IPL 2022. Chahal was costly in IPL 2024 as his economy rate read 9.41. He averaged 30.33.

Piyush Chawla – 222 sixes

Former KKR, Punjab, and CSK bowler Piyush Chawla has been belted for 222 sixes in the IPL. Chawla, who plays for Mumbai Indians, has clocked the tally in 191 innings, way less than Chahal. The right-arm leg-spinner has given away 374 fours as well. He has conceded 5108 runs from 3854 balls with his economy rate being 7.96. Chawla is the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL with 192 wickets at 26.60. In IPL 2024, Chawla gave away 21 sixes. He claimed 13 scalps at 24 (ER: 8.91).

Ravindra Jadeja – 206 sixes

Chennai Super Kings stalwart Ravindra Jadeja is next on the list. The left-arm spinner has conceded a total of 206 sixes from 211 innings. Jadeja has bowled 3829 balls, giving away a total of 4864 runs. The all-rounder has also been dispatched for 290 fours. The former RR and Gujarat Lions player has an economy rate of 7.62, and his average reads 30.40. Jadeja owns 160 wickets. In IPL 2024, Jadeja conceded only 13 sixes. He claimed eight wickets at 46.12.

Ravichandran Ashwin – 203 sixes

RR’s Ravichandran Ashwin is the fourth bowler in IPL history to concede 200-plus maximums (203) from 208 innings. Former CSK, RPS, Punjab and DC spinner Ashwin has conceded a total of 5369 runs from 4524 balls at an economy rate of 7.12. His average is 29.82. Ashwin has also been smacked for 300-plus fours (316). He owns 180 wickets in the cash-rich league. In IPL 2024, Ashwin finished with nine wickets at a woeful 51.88. His economy rate was also high (8.49). Ashwin was hit for 19 sixes in IPL 2024.

Amit Mishra – 183 sixes

Veteran spinner Amit Mishra has conceded the fifth-highest number of sixes in IPL history (183) from 162 innings. Mishra, who played largely for Delhi, also represented SRH and now LSG. He has also given away 239 fours. Mishra has conceded 4145 runs from 3371 balls (ER: 7.37). His wickets tally reads 174 at an average of 23.82. Mishra hardly played in IPL 2024 and conceded only two sixes.

Sunil Narine – 166 sixes

KKR ace Sunil Narine has the best economy rate in IPL history at 6.74 (min 100 wickets). He hardly steps a foot wrong with his mystery spin. Narine has conceded 166 sixes from 174 innings. Narine has conceded 4555 runs from 4051 balls. He has claimed 179 wickets at 25.44. Notably, he has also given away 300-plus fours (305). In IPL 2024, Narine has been smoked for 17 maximums. He has claimed 16 wickets from 14 matches at 22. His economy rate is a solid 6.90.

Dwayne Bravo – 155 sixes

Former IPL ace Dwayne Bravo is the only pacer in the top 7 list. Bravo, who played for MI, GL, and CSK, gave away 155 maximums from 158 innings. He also conceded 348 fours. Bravo conceded 4360 runs from 3120 balls. His economy rate was 8.38. His average is 23.82 with 183 scalps under his belt.

Meanwhile, the likes of Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat complete the top 10 list for giving away most sixes. Axar has conceded 154 sixes from 148 innings. Pacer Umesh has given away 149 sixes from 147 innings. Unadkat has managed to concede 146 sixes from 103 innings.
