Rajkumar Sharma on MS Dhoni: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is busy looking for a new coach for the Indian team. BCCI had also sought applications for this, the last date for which was 27 May. According to reports, the board has received more than 3 thousand applications. However, former opener Gautam Gambhir is considered to be the biggest contender for the post of head coach of India. Amidst the discussions about Gambhir, Virat Kohli's coach Rajkumar Sharma has brought a new twist to it by taking the name of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Dhoni can become the head coach of the Indian team!

Dronacharya Award winner Rajkumar Sharma, coach of India's legendary batsman Virat Kohli, while talking to India News, gave a statement about the post of India's head coach. He said, 'First of all it will be interesting to see which names apply for this post. I would like that whoever becomes the coach should be an Indian. If Mahendra Singh Dhoni announces his retirement, he can be a good option. Dhoni has played a lot of cricket and has won big tournaments.'

Rajkumar Sharma praised Dhoni and said that 'He will have a lot of respect in the dressing room. He has played this format for a long time in his career. Making a plan for the team and managing it properly is most important because when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the captain, there were many big players in that team. Players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Yuvraj Singh were present in that team. Despite this, Dhoni handled the team brilliantly.'

This is not the first time that Dhoni has been recommended to be made the coach of the Indian team. Even before Rajkumar Sharma, many cricket legends have advised Dhoni to become the head coach of the Indian team. Dhoni has played the role of mentor of the Indian team during the 2021 T20 World Cup. However, he has not started his coaching career yet. Dhoni was recently seen playing for CSK in IPL 2024. His bat was spewing fire in the tournament.
