Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya completely failed to perform well in IPL 2024. He was captaining Mumbai Indians this season. He has disappointed both as a captain and a player. The franchise finished at the bottom of the points table (10th) this season. Despite this poor form, Hardik has been selected in the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which has caused a lot of debate. However, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that the all-rounder will perform well when he appears in the blue jersey in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Harbhajan said, “When he wears the blue jersey, he will be a different Hardik Pandya because we know that he can score runs and take wickets. I want Hardik to do well because he has been through a lot and I wish him all the best for a very good tournament for India. If he has a good tournament, then obviously India will have a great chance to move forward.”
Hardik joined Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans before the start of IPL 2024 and was made the captain of the franchise, replacing Rohit Sharma. However, he has disappointed both as a captain and a player. Hardik did not appear in form at all this season. At the same time, fans also criticized the Indian all-rounder fiercely throughout the season.
On this, Bhajji said, “Yes, his form is a bit of a concern and there were a lot of other things going on around him. His transfer from Gujarat to Mumbai was a big change and the team did not respond very well to Hardik coming back and that too as captain. It seemed like they were not playing together as a team. So there was a lot going on. I believe that both of them and many others who have played in different teams have to come together to do something special for the country.”
The former spinner further added, “Winning the World Cup is a bigger achievement than winning the IPL trophy, so I would request the management to bring everyone together, get them on one page and make sure they play as one. I believe it is the responsibility of the management to come together and win together. Even if they lose, they should lose together.”
