Lucknow: There are only a few days left for the start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and for this all the countries have announced their teams. Even teams are reaching West Indies and the United States to participate in the World Cup. In this episode, the first batch of the Indian team has reached the USA and some players will join the team soon. When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the team, there were some surprising names at that time, the biggest of which was the name of Rinku Singh.

Young opener Shubman Gill was also not made a part of the 15-member World Cup team, while he has been kept as a reserve player. However, he has currently reached the USA and has joined the team. In such a situation, former England captain Eoin Morgan targeted India's selection committee during a conversation on Sky Sports and expressed surprise at not including Gill in the main squad. According to the former English player, Gill should have been selected in the team instead of Yashasvi Jaiswal.

He said, “If I had selected the Indian team, maybe one decision would have been slightly different. I would have selected Shubman Gill in the team instead of Yashasvi Jaiswal. This is a very big decision but I have played with Gill for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). I know how he thinks and how he works. Apart from this, he is going to be the captain of the Indian team in the future.”

Let us tell you that when the team was announced, Gill was included in the list of reserve players. In his place, BCCI and selectors have expressed confidence in Yashasvi Jaiswal and now it will be interesting to see how Jaiswal performs in the World Cup.
