The Indian Premier League 2024 has finished, with Kolkata Knight Riders winning the title. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in Chennai to lift the trophy for the third time. Mitchell Starc, who was purchased for 24.75 crores by KKR, was named the Player of the Match for taking two wickets.
On the other hand, Pat Cummins, the captain of SRH, was outstanding in the 17th season for Hyderabad. He was added to the squad for INR 20.50 crore.
Cricket experts slammed KKR and SRH before the start of the season for spending hefty amounts on the two Australian cricketers. However, they proved everyone wrong and were outstanding performers for their franchises.
Cummins had a dual responsibility. Apart from his bowing, he had to look after the team’s performance as captain. He succeeded in both and led the Sunrisers to their first final since 2016.
Although he couldn’t do much in the final against KKR, his overall contributions were worth applauding.
Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu was mighty pleased with Cummins.
“He was a silent Assassin in the Indian Premier League 2024. Look at the way he led Sunrisers Hyderabad. They reached the final of the league for the first tie since 2016. Pat Cummins was worth every penny SRH paid for him. He led the team from the front and was never seen getting angry on players.
“He motivated the players from the start of the season. Cummins was sensational in this IPL and deserves credit for playing an important role in his franchise’s impressive run,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Star Sports.
