The third match of the 4-match T20 International series between England and Pakistan will be played in Cardiff on 28 May. However, before this, the England team has suffered a major setback. England captain Jos Buttler will not be able to play in the third T20 International match against Pakistan on 28 May due to being on paternity leave. He and his wife Louise are expecting their third child soon. Butler did not even attend the training session in Cardiff on Monday (27 May) afternoon and is unlikely to be available for the match as well.

According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, it is still unclear whether the English captain will join the team in time for the fourth and final T20I of the series. The last match between England and Pakistan will be played at the Oval on May 30 and the very next day, England's T20 World Cup team will leave for the West Indies.

However, Buttler is expected to travel with the team for the mega event. Earlier, the 33-year-old Buttler had clearly stated that he would be with his family during the birth of his third child regardless of the World Cup. This had also increased the possibility of him missing England's first group game against Scotland on June 4. But now it seems that captain Buttler will be available from the first game itself. Moeen Ali will lead England in his absence. England are leading the four-match series against Pakistan 1-0, with the hosts winning the second T20 International by 23 runs after the first match was washed out due to rain.
