BCCI showers money on 10 ground staff after successful completion of IPL 2024

Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the third time. The team that won the IPL got Rs 20 crore as prize money. Apart from this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also announced rewards for ground staff and curators. BCCI secretary Jay Shah has made a big announcement. Now ground staff employees will get Rs 25 lakh each. This amount will be given to the employees of 10 grounds. Employees of three additional stadiums will also get better remuneration.

Jay Shah said through the social media platform 'X', “Some heroes behind the scenes were involved in making the T20 League (IPL 2024) a success. The ground staff has a huge contribution in making this tournament a success. They performed well even in bad conditions. The ground staff and curators of the 10 regular IPL stadiums will be paid Rs 25 lakh each, while three additional ground staff will get Rs 10 lakh each. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.”

On the other hand, along with the winning team of IPL, money was also showered on the runner-up team, where the title winning team KKR got Rs 20 crore, while the runner-up Hyderabad got Rs 12.5 crore as a prize. Rajasthan Royals (RR), which came third, got Rs 7 crore and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), which came fourth, got Rs 6.5 crore.

KKR defeated SRH by 8 wickets in the title match

Shreyas Iyer-led KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the final. In a one-sided match, KKR won the title by winning big. Chasing the easy target, Venkatesh Iyer (52*) played an explosive innings for KKR. His team became the IPL champion for the first time in 2012. After this, he managed to win the title in 2014 and 2024 as well. KKR won the IPL title twice under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir and once under his guidance.
