Mitchell Starc has proved his critics wrong. He was lambasted by Irfan Pathan, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Ambati Rayudu and Aakash Chopra for his display in the first half of the Indian Premier League 2024. However, they took the biggest U-turn in the history of cricket and praised the pacer. In the last few games, the Aussie fast bowler took important wickets, leading the franchise to victories.
In Qualifier 1 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he dismissed three batters and was named the Player of the Match. Mitchell was again at his best in the final against SRH, dismissing dangerous Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi.
His delivery to Abhishek was the ball of the tournament. It pitched on middle and leg stump and hit the top of the off stump.
“Mitchell Starc has justified his price tag of 24.75 crore. KKR were right when they invested in the Aussie bowler,” Irfan Pathan said.
Sidhu was impressed with Mitchell. “We all were criticizing him but you pay a hefty amount for such moments. He deserves that money. Starc has showed that he was worth INR 24.75 crore,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.
Rayudu was also pleased with the performance of the seamer.
