Delhi: All the tickets for the only T20 International match to be played between India and Japan on September 22 have been sold out. Japan Cricket Association made its official announcement on Thursday. This match will be played under the Suzuki Cup and is being organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations.

This will be the first time when the senior men's cricket teams of India and Japan will face each other in an international match. Apart from this, the women's teams of both the countries will face each other in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Asian Games on September 18.
This T20 match between India and Japan is being considered an important step towards strengthening sports relations between the two countries. According to BCCI and JCA, this match is the beginning of the 'Sport 75' initiative. Its objective is to increase cooperation in the field of sports between the two countries and to promote cricket in Japan.
Regarding this historic match, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said that the board is happy to be a part of this event. He said that this match will give an opportunity to take the Indian team to a new area and take cricket to a new audience in Japan as well as East Asia.
Saikia further said that it is necessary to take cricket beyond the traditional boundaries and BCCI is fulfilling its responsibility in this direction.
