England team announced for T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka, new players got a chance

Desk : England has announced both its teams for the upcoming limited overs series against Sri Lanka. England men's team selectors have selected 16 players each for the T20 and ODI series. Both teams will be captained by Harry Brook. In the T20 team, Derbyshire's opening batsman Aneurin Donald has got a place in the England team at the international level for the first time. At the same time, fast bowler Henry Crocombe has been included in the ODI team for the first time.

Jamie Overton is back

Let us tell you that all-rounder Jamie Overton has returned to the teams of both the formats. Due to a thigh injury, he could not be a part of England's last white-ball series against India. Meanwhile, Phil Salt will not be available for the Sri Lanka series due to a right thigh injury. Jacob Bethel is also not a part of the team. He underwent successful surgery on his injured knee this week.

Harry Brook (captain), Joffra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker, Tom Banton, Jos Buttler, James Coles, Jordan Cox, Liam Dawson, Aneurin Donald, Ben Duckett, Will Jacques, Saqib Mahmood, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid and Josh Tong have been selected in the T20 squad.

Joe Root also included in ODI team

Under the captaincy of Harry Brook, Rehan Ahmed, Joffra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Sonny Baker, Jos Buttler, Jordan Cox, Henry Crocombe, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacques, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Joe Root and Josh Tong have been included in the ODI team.

The series will be played in September

The first match of the three-match T20 series between Sri Lanka and England will be held on September 15. The second T20 will be played on 17 September and the third match on 19 September. After this the three-match ODI series will start. The first ODI will be played on 22 September, the second on 24 September and the third ODI on 27 September.

Selectors expressed confidence in new players

England men's team national selector Marcus North described Aneurin Donald and Henry Crocombe as talented players who have consistently performed well in domestic cricket. He said Donald has had a fantastic season in the Vitality Blast for Derbyshire and The Hundred for Trent Rockets, while Crocombe has been under the selectors' radar throughout the summer.
