Towhid Hridoy scored a brilliant 350 runs batting unbeaten against South Africa A for Bangladesh A in the second unofficial Test in Potchefstroom on Wednesday. The right-handed batter's ton was the talk of the series decider as he added his name to Bangladesh's record book.

The 31-year-old faced 481 balls and hit 27 fours and 10 sixes in the process as Bangladesh A posted a record 676/8 declared. Coming in at number four, the Bangladesh A skipper steadied the innings after his side had slumped to 86/3 while chasing down South Africa A's massive first innings score of 512.

Towhid Hridoy's Record-Breaking 350

Hridoy initially joined Jaker Ali to save Bangladesh A, adding 151 runs for the fourth wicket. Jaker narrowly missed out on a century as he left at 94. Hridoy then joined Mohammad Saifuddin, with the two adding another 185 runs to put Bangladesh A firmly in front.

His innings eventually passed 191 overs, with Hridoy remaining unbeaten throughout the mammoth effort. South Africa A reached 18/0 from 12 overs in their second innings before the match ended in a draw.

Bangladesh A lost the two-match unofficial Test series 1-0, but the final match belonged to Hridoy.

His unbeaten 350 not only set a new record for the highest individual first-class score by a Bangladesh batter but also rewrote several records in South African domestic first-class cricket.

350 – Highest first-class score by a Bangladesh batter: Hridoy surpassed Tamim Iqbal's previous record of 334, scored for East Zone against Central Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League in Mirpur in 2019.

Who Is Towhid Hridoy?

Born in Bogra on 04 December 2000, Towhid Hridoy has established himself as one of Bangladesh's most promising middle-order batters. A right-handed batsman who can also bowl off-spin, he has progressed through the talent pipelines of Bangladesh's youth system and played a key role in their Under-19 World Cup-winning campaign in 2020.

Hridoy made his first-class debut for Rajshahi Division in 2017, but soon worked his way up the ranks in Bangladesh's domestic circuit and franchise cricket. He was subsequently called up to represent Bangladesh's senior team in 2023.

He made his T20I debut against England on 09 March 2023, and followed it up with an ODI debut against Ireland in the same year. Since then, he has evolved as one of the key players in Bangladesh's limited-overs setup, and has represented several other franchise teams including Sylhet Strikers, Fortune Barishal, Comilla Victorians, Jaffna Kings and Rangpur Riders.

In June 2026, he made his Test debut against Zimbabwe, but his 350 in Potchefstroom represents a completely different facet of his batting.

At 25, he has now delivered the innings of his life, showcasing a mixture of immense patience, concentration and temperament across a remarkable period of batting, while still maintaining the attacking flair which has defined his time in Bangladesh's white-ball set-up.

For Bangladesh cricket, Hridoy's 350 could be more than just a record. It could well mark a new era for a batsman who has already proven that he is up to the challenge in the biggest matches.
