Ben Stokes is busy playing domestic cricket after he retired from international cricket. The 35-year-old has signed with Adelaide Strikers ahead of the Big Bash League 2026-27 season. The all-rounder will be opening the batting for the side, according to current coach Tim Paine.

“He has the talent to open the batting in the league and the wickets will suit him,” Paine said. “I have been at the receiving end of Stokes’ devastating batting in the Test format, where defending feels impossible. He has the power and can play 360-degree cricket,” he added.

“He can play flick shots and switch hit as we have seen in the past. With skills with the bat and the ability to play spin, he is a world-class performer. The opening role will suit him. Ben can also surprise a lot of people with the ball, and he can be quicker than what most people think, having played against him. He can swing the ball both ways, and we can use his skills in different phases of the game.”

Stokes last played in the league for the Melbourne Renegades in 2014 and scored 128 runs. The southpaw’s highest score was 77, and he recorded a strike rate of 156. He picked up three wickets.
