Delhi: Indian-born Australian cricketer Nikhil Chaudhary is now busy preparing for the next big goal of his career. Nikhil, born in Delhi, is eyeing a place in Australia's ODI team and representing the country in the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027.

Journey from India to Australia

Nikhil is the first player of Indian origin to play for the Australian men's cricket team in the last six decades. He made his T20 International debut against Bangladesh in June. Now he will soon be seen in unofficial ODI matches for Australia A against India A.

After staying in Australia during the Covid pandemic, Nikhil decided to pursue his cricket career there. Before this, he had played List A and T20 cricket for Punjab. After reaching Australia, he made his mark in different formats of domestic cricket.

Desire to play ODI and Test

Nikhil's goal is not limited to only T20 cricket. He also wants to represent Australia in ODI and Test cricket. His biggest dream is to be a part of the team in the 2027 ODI World Cup. After this, his eyes will also be on the T20 World Cup to be held in 2028.

Impressed in Sheffield Shield

Nikhil made his Big Bash League debut for Hobart Hurricanes in 2023. After this, in 2025 he made his first-class cricket debut for Tasmania. In the 2025–26 Sheffield Shield season, he scored 393 runs in 13 innings. During this, he also played a brilliant inning of 76 unbeaten runs and 163 runs against New South Wales.

Now Nikhil is trying to take this performance forward and make a place in Australia's ODI team. His mantra is clear – to work hard continuously, take advantage of every opportunity and contribute to the team's victory.
