The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to meet on Thursday, where a few key decisions will be taken. One of the main topics will be Rohit Sharma‘s ODI future. The 39-year-old may have scored a century against England at Lord’s, but that hasn’t stopped speculation about his future before the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Former India batter Aakash Chopra took to his YouTube channel and urged the Indian board to take a firm decision on the veteran batter’s future. “Rohit has shown his willingness to play. When he played that famous 138-run knock, there should be a full stop on all discussions, and leave him alone,” he said.

“Because it is not working out with the constant chatter, or rumours and stories are being planted about his future.

It will continue to grow, and it becomes a problem. So, it could be decided that there won’t be any more talks about Rohit and everyone gets on the same page,” he added.

“In a rather radical flip side, there is also a chance that it is said we have taken a call and he will not play any part in the 2027 ODI World Cup. Either of the two possibilities is likely, but after his knock of 138 and the way he is looking leaner, meaner, fitter and willing to play, I think we are putting this conversation to bed.

And there has to be no more discussions, and this is where it ends.

Other key topics in the BCCI meeting

ODI and Test skipper Shubman Gillalong with T20I captain Shreyas Iyerare likely to join the meeting online. One of the main topics will be the below-par performance by the side during the T20I series in England and Ireland. The Men in Blue did beat Zimbabwe in a subsequent series, but the cricket preceding that tour wasn’t great.

“Not just the Ireland and England tours, but even the Sri Lanka series will also be reviewed,” a BCCI source told TOI. Gill’s side won the series 1-0, but their attempts to clean sweep the hosts were thwarted by Sonal Dinusha’s centuries in both innings of the Colombo Test last week.
