Michael Hussey has rejected an offer from the England and Wales Cricket Board to become the Test batting coach of the men’s side, a Guardian report said on Tuesday.
The former Australia and Chennai Super Kings star reportedly held talks last month to join Stephen Fleming’s support staff with the ECB but he has chosen to stay in Australia, choosing a consultancy role with the men’s national side ahead of the Ashes next year.
Since his retirement, Hussey has undertaken lucrative coaching and commentary gigs around the world, his most famous stint being with CSK in the Indian Premier League, a franchise he was with for nearly two decades as a player and then coach.
He has also taken up roles in The Hundred and the Big Bash.The 51-year-old has worked with the England setup before, when he took on a part-time consultant contract in the men’s team’s triumphant 2022 T20 World Cup campaign.
