Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from the Australia ODI squad for the series against Zimbabwe and South Africa later this month.

The 32-year-old had been a 50-over regular for Australia since 2022 and was part of the team that won the ODI World Cup in India three years ago.

Labuschagne has struggled with the bat across formats but looks set to retain his place in the Test squad despite a poor series with the bat against Bangladesh. The Test squad for South Africa will be named next week.

However, the Australian selectors have decided to look beyond the batter in the shorter format.

ODI regulars Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazlewood return to the squad after missing the most recent assignment in Bangladesh.

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have also been included after their excursions in the Test series at home against the Bangla Tigers.

There is also place in the squad for uncapped all-rounder Joel Davis as well as youngsters Oliver Peake and Cooper Connolly.

The tour begins against Zimbabwe in Harare on September 15.

Australia ODI squad:

Xavier Bartlett, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Pat Cummins, Joel Davies, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, ‌Mitchell Marsh, Oliver Peake, Matthew Renshaw, Billy Stanlake, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa
