Trinbago Knight Riders returned to winning ways after a stunning performance from Sunil Narine against Tridents, played in Trinidad.

Knight Riders restricted opponents to 127 runs as Narine put on an all-rounder show at Queen’s Park Oval. With this win, Riders jumped to 5th spot in the CPL 2026 Points table.

After being invited to bat first, Tridents’ Zachary Carter and Shian Brathwaite opened the innings, while Narine opened the innings.

Despite a decent start from Tridents, they lost the wicket of Brathwaite for 13 runs. With Zakary Carter and Quinton de Kock at the crease, Barbados Tridents scored 31 runs in the powerplay.

Jyd Coolie bagged the wicket of de Kock (11) runs while Pollard bagged the wicket of Kevlon Anderson (6). Only Zachary Carter (28) and Chris Green were the scorers for Tridents.

Sunil Narine delivered a stunning spell and returned with figures of 2/14 at an economy of 3.50.

By the end of 20 overs, Barbados Tridents scored 127 runs. Narine and Pollard bagged two wickets while Akeal Hosein, Jyd Goolie, Usman Tariq, and Abdul Raheem Toppin picked a wicket each.

Chasing a 128-run target, Colin Munro and Sunil Narine opened the innings while Mujeeb Ur Rahman opened the bowling attack.

The duo put up a strong start, stitching a 95-run partnership for the first wicket. Chris Green brought the first breakthrough, dismissing Munro for 37 runs.

Nicholas Pooran, who joined Narine, was dismissed for 12 runs by Mujeeb Ur Rahman. On the other hand, Sunil Narine scored 55 runs off 33 deliveries before being dismissed by Ramon Simmonds.

Kieron Pollard and Jyd Goolie remained unbeaten to complete the chase in the 15th over.

Sunil Narine was named player of the match.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Narine said, “Tonight was a bit drier. Lines and lengths were better. As a collective group, we applied pressure from both ends. It’s based on the way the game is going. With the lineup we have, we have to try to win the power play. It’s to lengthen the batting.

“The opportunity came, and I grabbed it with both hands. It’s a god-given talent I have, and I’m trying to make the most of it. It’s good – nice of the Queen’s Park Cricket Club to give us that for our achievement,” concluded Sunil Narine.
