Delhi: In the second test against Sri Lanka, Dhruv Jurel played a brilliant inning of 115 not out. During this, he faced 13 balls to reach 99 to 100 runs and reached the third position in a special record list.

Second Indian to score a lower order century in Sri Lanka

Dhruv Jurel also achieved the feat of becoming the second Indian batsman to score a Test century while batting at number 7 or below for India in Sri Lanka.

Before him, Hardik Pandya had achieved this feat by scoring 108 runs in Pallekele in 2017.

The last Test century for India while batting at number 7 or below was scored by Nitish Kumar Reddy. He scored 114 runs against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in December 2024.

Jurel faced 177 balls and scored unbeaten 115 runs.

He played an important role in taking India from the score of 307/6 to 503/9. His 112-run partnership with Rishabh Pant was also very important for India. Pant scored 63 runs.

After completing the century, Jurel hit two consecutive sixes against Asitha Fernando and took India's score beyond 500. After this Shubman Gill declared India's innings at the score of 503/9.

This innings of Jurel not only put India in a strong position, but also included him in the special record list of some big names of Indian cricket.
