Delhi: In the second Test being played against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, India declared the innings after scoring 503/9 runs in the first innings. Team India scored this score after batting 138 overs. The biggest highlight of India's innings were the brilliant centuries of Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel.

Padikkal scored a century for the second consecutive test and played a brilliant inning of 117 runs in 193 balls. He hit 12 fours in his innings. After scoring 167 runs in the Galle Test, Padikkal has further strengthened his place at number-3 by playing a big innings in Colombo.

After Padikkal, Jurel also scored a brilliant century

After Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel was the biggest hero of India's innings. Jurel, who came to bat at number 7, scored unbeaten 115 runs in 177 balls. His innings included 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Jurel, along with the lower order batsmen, took India beyond 500 runs. The special thing about his innings was that he held one end and remained unbeaten till the end.

Gill and Rishabh Pant scored half-centuries

Captain Shubhman Gill also scored 50 runs in 108 balls. He hit 6 fours. Gill made an important partnership of 120 runs for the third wicket with Padikkal, due to which India was successful in recovering from the initial setbacks.

Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 45 runs and Ravindra Jadeja contributed 43 runs. Rishabh Pant also scored a quick 63 runs. Pant hit 6 fours and 2 sixes in his innings of 89 balls. Pant retired hurt due to a wrist injury on the first day and returned to the pavilion. Jadeja played an innings of 43 runs in 83 balls.

Rahul could not do much wonders

India's beginning was not entirely easy. KL Rahul was out after scoring only 18 runs. After this Jaiswal scored 45 runs. Whereas Mohammad Siraj could score only 3 runs. In India's innings, Saransh Jain scored 6 runs and Manav Suthar scored 18 runs, while Prasidh Krishna remained unbeaten after scoring 4 runs.

Asitha is the most successful among Sri Lankan bowlers

Asitha Fernando was the most successful bowler for Sri Lanka. He took 4 wickets. Lahiru Kumara and Keshara Nuwantha got 1 wicket each, while Prabath Jayasuriya and Asitha Fernando also troubled the Indian batsmen.

By declaring the innings at 503/9, India has now set a big score for Sri Lanka. Padikkal's second consecutive century and Jurel's unbeaten inning of 115 runs have put India in a strong position. Now the next big question of the match is how Sri Lanka's batting responds to this huge score.
