After a remarkable career spanning over 17 years, Marais Erasmus, one of the most respected and accomplished umpires in cricket, is bidding farewell to the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires.

The 60-year-old South African will officiate in his final Test match during the second Test between New Zealand and Australia, starting on Friday, March 10, 2024, in Christchurch.

Erasmus has been a constant presence on the international cricket stage, officiating in some of the most high-profile tournaments and matches. His calm demeanour, decision-making, and deep understanding of the game have earned him immense respect from players, coaches, and fans alike.

Notably, Erasmus was appointed to the Elite Panel in 2010, Erasmus has left a mark on the game. His career highlights include winning the prestigious David Shepherd Trophy for the ICC Umpire of the Year on three occasions (2016, 2017, and 2021), a testament to his exceptional umpiring skills.

Marais Erasmus has officiated in four ICC Men's Cricket World Cups, seven ICC Men's T20 World Cups, three ICC Women's T20 World Cups, and two ICC Men's Champions Trophy tournaments. He was one of the on-field umpires for the dramatic 2019 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup final between England and New Zealand, as well as the last two ICC Men's T20 World Cup finals in 2021 and 2022.
