Usually the competition in the game is between the captain and his team, but this IPL final is different and that is what is expected to make the match very exciting. Because, on one hand, there is Gautam Gambhir, the skilled strategist of cricket, and on the other hand, Pat Cummins, who won two ICC trophies.
A decade ago no one would have imagined that Cummins would become a captain who would win the ODI World Cup, the World Test Championship and the Ashes within 6 months. Now if he leads Sunrisers to the IPL trophy, it will be an incredible record.

The two teams clashed in the first qualifier, with KKR defeating Sunrisers on the back of some excellent bowling. KKR last played an IPL final in Chennai in 2012 against Chennai Super Kings, with Gambhir winning the title as captain. Under Gambhir's leadership, KKR won the title again in 2014 and now he is on the verge of winning the title for the same team as a mentor.
He is also a strong contender to be the head coach of the Indian team and the IPL trophy will further strengthen his claim. Cummins was part of the team when Kolkata won the title in 2014. Now both are face to face.
If we compare the teams, KKR have matchwinners like Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Shreyas and Venkatesh Iyer. Also there are mystery bowlers like Nitish and Harshit Rana and Varun Chakraborty. On the other hand, apart from domestic cricketers Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Reddy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan and Jaydev Unadkat have performed well for Sunrisers.

Sunrisers will be in high spirits after beating the Royals by 36 runs on a tough pitch, but Chepauk's wicket will favor Varun (20 wickets) and Narine (16 wickets), who have been in excellent form this season.
Sunrisers' spinners Abhishek and Shahbaz Ahmed performed well in the last match. Abhishek, Rahul Tripathi and Reddy will have to score runs in addition to Travis Head and Henrik Klaassen. KKR's young pacers Harshit and Vaibhav Arora will have to keep Head calm, having scored 567 runs so far.
