The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced the squad for the Asian Games 2026. Legendary Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi’s 20-year-old son, Hassan Eisakhil, is a part of the 15-member squad. He has scored 1,094 runs in 41 T20 matches so far, but he hasn’t represented the national team in the past.

However, Rashid Khan, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Azmatullah Omarzai and Allah Ghazanfar were not considered.

Darwish Rasooli is the captain and the team also features Karim Janat and Najib Zadran.

Afghanistan have rested the top performers for the Asian Games, which is surprising as other teams have named the full-strength squads.

Shreyas Iyer will lead the Men in Blue in the Asian Games. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh will also compete for the Indian National Cricket Team.

Sahibzada Farhan is Pakistan's skipper, and he will be assisted by players like Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Usman Khan, Sufiyan Moqim, Maaz Sadaqat and Hasan Nawaz.

In the previous edition of the Asian Games in 2023, Afghanistan won the silver medal in the men’s category. They defeated the Men in Green in the second semi-final on October 6 but lost to India in the final, settling for second place.
