Galle (Sri Lanka): Indian batsman KL Rahul has expressed happiness over Devdutt Padikkal's Test debut century. He said that Padikkal will soon become a batsman playing big innings for India and will continue to perform better.

Devdutt Padikkal, batting at number three in the Galle Test against Sri Lanka, played a brilliant inning of 167 runs in 230 balls. KL Rahul said that he knows Padikkal since the time of Under-19 cricket and he has traveled to Team India by scoring many runs for Karnataka.

KL Rahul said that in the last few years, Padikkal was waiting for his opportunity and was continuously working hard in the nets to improve many aspects of his batting.

He said that Padikkal understood the conditions in Sri Lanka and had scored a century in the warm-up match also. Rahul said that he likes to bat and wants to score big runs.

KL Rahul said that it is important to score a century at the beginning of one's career, so that the player can move ahead and enjoy his batting.
