Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma’s ripe form with the ball continued as she took three wickets for Sunrisers Leeds in the latest round of fixtures of the Hundred on Sunday.

Deepti’s figures of 3/13 from her 20 balls propelled her side to a six-wicket win over Welsh Fire at Headingley and close in on the top four in the standings with just three matchdays to go before the Eliminator.

Leeds is currently fifth in the table with 16 points, level with Manchester Super Giants who is fourth owing to a superior net run rate.

The two sides will face off against each other in a virtual knockout fixture in their respective final group stage games on Tuesday, August 11.

Deepti took little time to have an impact as she trapped the dangerous Georgia Voll LBW at the top of the order with a looping off-spinner, before snaring Heather Graham and Niamh Holland.

The 28-year-old is the fifth highest wicket taker at the ongoing edition of the Hundred, with ten wickets from seven matches at an average of 13.10 and a miserly economy rate of 6.83.

Deepti’s performance and Hannah Baker’s two-wicket haul (2/15) helped Leeds restrict Welsh Fire to 121 in the first innings.

In the chase, Phoebe Litchfield once again proved to a level above the rest with willow in hand. The southpaw followed up her matchwinning 71* off 33 balls from last time out with 25-ball 55, studded with six fours and three sixes.

Once Litchfield fell, her Australian teammate Annabel Sutherland carried on the same tempo (28 off 19 balls) and in the end, Leeds crossed the line with 27 balls to spare to keep its Playoff hopes alive.
