It was a testing day for the Indian bowlers who saw the hosts score a massive 363/8 from their 90 overs. The day began well with Nishan Madushka and Ravindu Rasantha taking the visiting bowlers on and putting them to sword. Both batters combined aggression with smart cricket as they with a run-rate over 5 runs per over.

After Madushka was run-out for 66, it was up to Ravindu to keep the runs ticking and he did just that with a brilliant 143-ball 71 run knock. Ravindra Jadeja, Manav Suthar, and Kuldeep Yadav got two wickets each. The left-arm spin trio found some purchase post lunch with Kuldeep in particular impressing everyone after the tea session.

Pace bowling department was disappointing with only Gurnoor Brar taking a wicket. Mohammed Siraj looked rusty in the start but he was seen getting into his rhythm towards the end of the day. Prasidh Krishna bowled eight overs for 32 runs without taking a wicket.

All focus on Shubman Gill

Indian skipper didn’t take the field on Friday but with the visitors expected to bat on Sunday one wonders if the 26-year-old will bat. Gill was hurt during the net sessions on Thursday just a day before the game. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul will be in focus as the duo come out to bat hoping to get some practice.

It will be interesting to see who comes out at number three with Sai Sudharsan yet to join the squad. Devdutt Padikkal could be the top choice but Dhruv Jurel could also be in the running if the team management wants to try something different. It is going to be a huge day for Indian team as they are exactly a week away from the opening Test match.
