The Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 has witnessed a significant squad development as Zimbabwe's charismatic captain and premier all-rounder, Sikandar Raza, has been roped in by the Dambulla Sixers as a replacement player. The move comes after South African batter Marques Ackerman was unfortunately ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to an injury, leaving the franchise in need of a quality overseas reinforcement.

Raza, who is widely regarded as one of the most impactful all-rounders in the global T20 circuit, brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record across various franchise leagues around the world. His T20 numbers speak volumes about his capability—he has amassed 7,572 runs at a strike rate of nearly 137, while also picking up 255 wickets with his clever off-spin bowling across 374 T20 matches, which includes 139 T20 Internationals for Zimbabwe. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes him a perfect fit for the Dambulla Sixers as they look to turn their campaign around.

Currently, the Dambulla Sixers find themselves in a precarious position, sitting fourth on the points table with just four points from six matches, having won only two and lost four. The addition of Raza is expected to inject fresh energy and tactical nous into the side, especially during the crucial phase of the tournament where every game becomes a must-win affair. His leadership skills and calm demeanour under pressure could prove invaluable for the franchise as they push for a knockout berth.

In addition to Raza's arrival, the LPL has seen several other notable player movements. Afghanistan's pace sensation Fazalhaq Farooqi, who has been called up for national duty, will remain available for Dambulla's next match against Colombo KAPS before departing the squad. Meanwhile, Colombo KAPS have also made two changes. Ashen Bandara has been drafted in to replace the injured Kusal Mendis, while Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud has returned home for national duty, with fellow Bangladeshi Ripon Mondol joining as his replacement.

Elsewhere, Kandy Royals have signed Kavija Gamage to replace the injured Vishen Halambage, while the Jaffna Kings confirmed that Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed would not travel to Sri Lanka due to a national team call-up. The Kings have named Bangladesh batter Tawhid Hridoy as his replacement, with Hridoy already having joined the squad.

With the tournament entering its business end, these strategic reinforcements are set to add more excitement and competitiveness to what has already been a thrilling edition of the Lanka Premier League.
