Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star all-rounder Abhishek Sharma is batting brilliantly in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). Not only this, he has also done a good job with the ball. In such a situation, the left-handed opener has made a big statement about his bowling.

Interestingly, Abhishek's mentor is former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who excelled as a middle-order batsman during his playing days and was also capable of bowling left-arm spin. When India won the ODI World Cup title in 2011, Yuvraj received the 'Player of the Tournament' award for his all-round performance.

“Whenever I talk to Yuvi paaji about bowling, he always says I can bowl better than him. This is something that is always in my mind,” Abhishek said in a video on the IPL website after SRH reached the final.

Till Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals, Abhishek had scored 470 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of over 200.00, including 41 sixes.

Actually, Abhishek's father Raj Kumar also used to bowl left-arm spin during his playing days. Abhishek said in the video, “I think my father would be happy, because he is a left-arm spin bowler and he is working hard on my bowling skills, but somehow I knew that if I kept working on my bowling skills, I could do something for my team, because I have the potential, I would say. Starting from junior cricket, I bowled a lot and also got some wickets.”

Abhishek Sharma's brilliant performance

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday. In this match, Abhishek Sharma played an important role in his team's victory by taking two wickets.
