Delhi: The Indian cricket team’s support staff has undergone another significant change. Former domestic cricketer Shubhdeep Ghosh has been appointed Team India’s new fielding coach. He replaces T. Dilip, whose tenure was not extended.

Shubhdeep’s selection is being seen as a new chapter in Indian cricket, as he has worked with players at various levels for a long time.

Sri Lanka tour will be a new beginning

Shubhdeep Ghosh will begin his new tenure with the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in August. The 57-year-old Shubhdeep played first-class cricket for Assam and Railways during his playing career.

After retiring from active cricket, he worked tirelessly in the coaching field and distinguished himself. He also served as head coach of the Assam senior men’s team.

Coaching experience became a major reason for appointment

Shubhdeep Ghosh has extensive coaching experience at the domestic and national levels.

He has served at the National Cricket Academy, as well as worked with players from the India A and Indian women’s cricket teams. He has also been associated with franchises such as the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This experience is believed to be a key factor in his appointment.

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) expressed its happiness over the appointment of Subhadeep Ghosh, calling it a moment of pride for the entire state.

The association said that he has earned a significant reputation through his work with Indian teams at various age groups. His achievements will serve as a source of inspiration for the state’s young players and aspiring coaches.

Now he will play an important role in the success of the Indian team along with batting coach Sitaram Kotak and bowling coach Morne Morkel in the support staff of head coach Gautam Gambhir.
