Scotland have named a 15-member squad for the upcoming fixtures against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Canada in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. Their final four matches in the series will take place on home soil at Forthill in Dundee.
Scotland have made three changes to the side that travelled to Nepal back in May. Brad Currie and Owen Gould are injured and are therefore unavailable for selection, with Michael Leask having been dropped. In their place come Zainullah Ihsan and Michael Jones, while Cricket Scotland have handed a maiden international call-up to Lyle Robertson. The 23-year-old represented the Scotland U19 side back in 2022 and also formed part of the Gloucestershire 2nd XI until 2023.
Jones, 28, will bolster the Scottish side's batting following some nice performances for Lancashire in the English domestic setup. The right-handed batter comes into the international squad after hitting an unbeaten 67 against Surrey in the 2026 One Day Cup. However, he has not played a One Day International (ODI) for Scotland since 2024.
The Scots are currently second in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 standings, having accumulated 38 points from 32 matches, five points behind leaders USA. The top four sides in this eight-team group will qualify for the 2027 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
Scotland's squad for ICC Cricket World Cup League 2:“It’s great to welcome back Zainullah Ihsan and Michael Jones to the squad for this series. Zainullah has shown excellent progress across the summer with his performances in training, in club cricket for GHK and in regional cricket with Western Warriors. Michael missed our previous two tours due to his Lancashire commitments, so it's exciting to have a player of his quality available again for a home series," Scotland coach Owen Dawkins said, via the official Cricket Scotland website.
"We’re also pleased to award a first senior international call-up to Lyle Robertson. As a young player he represented Scotland at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the Caribbean, and since then he’s continued to show steady development. He thoroughly deserves his selection after a series of impressive performances for Falkland, for Scotland “A” and for the Caledonian Highlanders in the Men’s Regional Super Series," he added.
