Delhi: Team India’s schedule for September 2026 may change. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning a tour of Bangladesh in September. If this happens then the proposed T20 series against Afghanistan can be carried forward. However, the final decision on this tour will be taken only after getting the approval of the Government of India.
According to the report of Times of India, talks are going on between Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and BCCI regarding this white-ball series. Both the boards want the series which was postponed last year to be conducted in September this year. But at present both the boards are waiting for the green signal from the Government of India.
India was to go on a tour of Bangladesh last year, where a series of three ODIs and three T20 matches was to be played. However, the tour was postponed at that time. Now both the boards are looking for new dates for this series.
If reports are to be believed, if the Bangladesh tour is approved then the T20 series between India and Afghanistan proposed in Delhi can go ahead. This will free up about two weeks of time in September, in which ODI and T20 series can be organized between India and Bangladesh.
India’s Test series against Sri Lanka will end on 27th August. After this, many players of the team will be available for white-ball cricket. At the same time, Bangladesh’s Test series against Australia will end on 26th August. After this, Bangladesh also does not have any international series scheduled before the Asian Games 2026.
Bangladesh’s next official bilateral series is to be held against South Africa from November 15, in which two Tests, three ODIs and three T20 matches will be played. In such a situation, the time of September is being considered suitable for organizing this series for both the countries.
However, till now no official announcement has been made by BCCI or BCB regarding this tour. Therefore, at present, everyone’s eyes are fixed on the approval of the Government of India and the final decision of both the cricket boards.
Why can India’s Bangladesh tour be postponed and why is there now talk of holding it in September?
India’s tour of Bangladesh was postponed last year, in which three ODIs and three T20 matches were to be played. Now BCCI and BCB are discussing to hold this series in September 2026. However, for this it is necessary to get the approval of the Government of India.
If Bangladesh tour is decided then what will be the impact on Afghanistan series?
If India tours Bangladesh in September, then the proposed India-Afghanistan T20 series in Delhi may be postponed further. This will free up about two weeks of time in September, in which a white-ball series can be organized between India and Bangladesh.
