Captain Shubman Gill hasn't minced words: India's fitness woes are becoming a worrying pattern, and with next year's World Cup on the horizon, the clock is ticking.

Speaking after England's 26-run win in the series decider at Lord's, which handed the hosts a 2-1 series victory, Gill admitted that frequent injuries have repeatedly stopped India from fielding their strongest XI. The absence of premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya was felt deeply, and his replacement Nitish Kumar Reddy also sat out the entire England tour with a quadriceps issue.
To make matters worse, seamer Harshit Rana and all-rounder Washington Sundar picked up knocks at various points, while Jasprit Bumrah, India's pace spearhead, was ruled out of the crucial final match.

England capitalized ruthlessly, piling up a massive 387-3 against an inexperienced Indian attack. The tourists fought back with 360-7 in reply, but the damage had already been done.

"Our bowling is a little bit inexperienced," Gill admitted candidly. "We were put under the pump in this match."

The captain's message was clear: talent alone won't win tournaments.
If India are to lift the trophy next year, their fitness regimen needs urgent attention—because no combination works when your best players are stuck in the medical room.
