Ben Stokes scored a century for Durham against Derbyshire in his first match since his international retirement.

Stokes raised his ton from 116 deliveries, and finished unbeaten on 108 from 123 balls with 10 fours and three sixes as Durham won by five wickets with five balls to spare.

Earlier in the day, Stokes bowled nine overs and finished with figures of none for 38.

Stokes announced his international retirement at the end of England’s third Test against New Zealand at The Oval at the end of June. He had retired from 50-over cricket at the end of the ODI World Cup 2023, and had not played a T20I since the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup.
