India’s terrible tour of England saw the side lose both the T20I and ODI series. Those losses have caused massive uproar in cricketing circles, and questions are being asked of the team management. Former Indian batter Sadagoppan Ramesh is one of the voices that has come out and questioned coach Gautam Gambhir.

The 51-year-old expressed dismay at the team management and their dubious calls. Ramesh took to his Instagram handle and said, “England played three spin bowlers on the dry wicket (at Lord’s). If Kuldeep Yadav isn’t given a chance in the team, what is the logic behind it? It is clear that the management keeps making mistakes in the overall selection and in picking the playing XI.”

Many former players were left surprised that Kuldeep Yadav wasn’t part of the playing XI in all three games. Mohammad Kaif went as far as to ask the bowler to pack his bags and return home. The likes of Dodda Ganesh and Kris Srikkanth, meanwhile, questioned the logic behind batting KL Rahul at number six during the final ODI at Lord’s.

Sadagoppan Ramesh praises Rohit Sharma

Indian veteran batter Rohit Sharma batted well to score 138 runs from 110 balls in the final ODI match on Sunday. This was the 34th ton for the former skipper in the 50-over format. It came at a time when there was massive speculation about his cricketing future following a run of inconsistent performances with the bat.

Former Indian cricket player praised Rohit for his knock and said, “There was immense pressure on him, and he played an amazing innings. Despite Sharma, Gill and Kohli’s knocks, India slipped because they were chasing a huge total. It was an excellent chase nonetheless because the pitch was playing differently in the second innings.”

Shubman Gill scored 77 and added 147 runs for the first wicket with the former India skipper. Virat Kohli also batted well, amassing 74 runs, which was his first-ever fifty-plus score at the iconic venue. Sam Curran’s four wickets ensured the hosts won the game by 27 runs and took the series 2-1.
