After finishing the ODI series against England, the Indian team will now play a T20 series against Zimbabwe. Head coach Gautam Gambhir will not be accompanying the team on this tour. The Indian team has departed for the tour without head coach Gautam Gambhir. This does not mean that he has resigned from the head coach position. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), considering the busy international schedule, has decided to rest Gambhir from this tour. In Gambhir's absence, former Indian batting great VVS Laxman will take on the responsibility of head coach for Team India.

Laxman is currently the head of BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) and has previously served as India's interim coach on several occasions. He has earlier performed the role of interim head coach for tours to Ireland, Zimbabwe, and New Zealand. His experience in working with young players is highly regarded, which is why the BCCI has once again placed its trust in him.

Team India is currently on the England tour, where the ODI series is being played. Looking at the packed schedule, the BCCI decided to rest Gautam Gambhir rather than sending him directly to Zimbabwe. The board has previously made changes to the support staff on short foreign tours to better manage workloads.

Captain Shreyas Iyer's Focus on Vaibhav

In the three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe, Shreyas Iyer will captain the Indian team. The squad includes several young players, including Rinku Singh. Some players who are currently playing the ODI series in England will join the team after the third ODI. All eyes will once again be on Vaibhav Suryavanshi. After making his debut in England, he failed to make a significant impact. He was dropped from the playing eleven, and Sanju Samson was given the opening responsibility again.

Series Starts July 23
All three T20 matches between India and Zimbabwe will be played at the Harare Sports Club. The first match will be on July 23, the second on July 25, and the third on July 26. All matches will begin at 4:30 PM IST. This tour will be a golden opportunity for young players to prove their talent. Under the guidance of VVS Laxman, Team India will aim to make a strong comeback in T20 cricket with new combinations on the field.
