Joe Rootcontinued his sensational run in One-Day Internationals by becoming the first England batter to register six consecutive 50-plus scores in the format. The landmark came during the third and final ODI against India at Lord's on Sunday, July 19.

The former England captain once again showcased his consistency, remaining unbeaten on 74 off 49 deliveries. In doing so, Root extended his remarkable sequence of ODI scores to 61, 75, 111, 76, 99*, and 74**, setting a new benchmark for England in the 50-over format.

Root's latest knock also marked his third consecutive half-century in the ongoing ODI series against India.

The 34-year-old walked in after England's openers had laid the perfect platform and ensured the hosts maintained the momentum. He rotated the strike effortlessly before accelerating in the latter stages of the innings, helping England finish with a formidable total.

After India opted to bowl first, England's innings was built around a dominant 192-run opening partnership between Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell. Duckett starred with a superb 141, while Bethell played an equally fluent knock of 91 as the duo took control from the outset.

India felt the absence of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the series decider due to reactive swelling in his left knee after sustaining an impact injury during the second ODI. The inexperienced Indian pace attack struggled to contain England's batters, conceding runs consistently throughout the innings.

Root then capitalized on the strong foundation with another unbeaten half-century before Jos Buttler provided the finishing touches with a blistering 41* off just 13 balls. Their late flourish propelled England to an imposing 387/3 in the series-deciding contest.

With yet another composed innings under his belt, Root further cemented his status as one of the world's premier ODI batters while scripting a unique piece of England's cricketing history.
