Major League Cricket’s 2026 season is over, with LA Knight Riders winning the title. Jason Holder’s side beat Washington Freedom by just one run to secure the silverware. Shadley van Schalkwyk’s last over produced huge drama, but the bowler kept his nerve and helped his side take home the win.

Franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan took to his X handle and congratulated the team for the win and wrote, “The LAKR stadium. The championship….cricket in America….awesome and all of the team. Absolutely outstanding. You all said we are here to win not just participate….and u showed it. Love u all….Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo!” The veteran Bollywood star also tagged the likes of Sunil Narine, Andre Russelland skipper Holder in the tweet.

The 38-year-old Narine was named both the player of the match and the tournament. The West Indian came up with yet another brilliant performance to pick 3/13 from his four overs. His wickets included the dangerous Mitchell Owen as well as Freedom’s skipper Steve Smith and Kiwi star Rachin Ravindra. Veteran bowler ended the campaign with 18 wickets to his name.

Andre Fletcher’s 47 and 40 from Colin Munro helped LAKR post 164 on the board. Matthew Tromp batted well to score a quickfire 39, which came off 21 balls with three boundaries and an equal number of sixes. Washington seamer Ben Dwarshuis was the best bowler for his team with three wickets.

Losing skipper Smith said, “The target was gettable, but I thought our guys pulled it back really well. They were obviously 100 off the first 10, and for us to restrict them to 165 was a really good effort. Losing three wickets in the powerplay always hurts.”
