Sumit Andil won the gold medal in javelin throw yesterday. In men's high jump, Mariyappan from Salem district of Tamil Nadu won the gold medal with a championship record of 1.88 meters. Ektabian also won the gold medal in women's club throw.

India has so far won 12 medals including 5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze in the World Para Athletics Championships. This is the first time that India has won the most medals in the World Para Athletics Championships. Last year the council won 10 medals including 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.
