Delhi: Before the start of the three-match ODI series against England, Indian captain Shubman Gill has made a big demand regarding ODI cricket in front of ICC Chairman Jay Shah. Gill believes that if ICC starts triangular and four-nation ODI series again, then the popularity of this format can increase again.

In the press conference organized before the first ODI against England on July 14, Shubman Gill said that instead of playing only bilateral series, there should be ODI tournaments between many countries. This will give the teams a chance to play in different conditions and the matches will become more exciting for the players as well as the spectators.

Gill is not in favor of 40 overs ODI

Recently there were reports that ICC may consider reducing ODI matches from 50 overs to 40 overs in future. However, at present ICC has not made any such change. On this issue, Shubman Gill clearly said that he does not see the need for any change in the 50 overs ODI format.

Better scheduling will increase the popularity of ODI cricket

Shubhman Gill believes that ODI cricket is still a very important format. The only need is to make better planning and schedule. If ICC organizes multi-nation ODI tournaments regularly, then this format can get new life again.
