West Indian coach Daren Sammy, during his chat with Wisden, said that veteran all-rounder Jason Holder has retired from the ODI format. The 35-year-old’s last game in the fifty-over format was in 2023 against Scotland. Holder scored 45 with the bat and also took a wicket.

Scotland’s win meant that the two-time World Champions didn’t qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup that was held in India.

In his chat with Wisden, the current West Indian coach said, “Jason is still in the mix as far as Test cricket is concerned, buthas retired from the ODI format. He has spoken about his interest in playing Test cricket. He’s also playing for various franchises. It is now a matter of his availability and where he fits into the team.”

It is to be noted that the Gujarat Titans star hasn’t played Test cricket since 2024 and his last international game was the T20I against Sri Lanka in June. Holder has played 138 ODI games for his country, scoring over 2000 runs with 12 fifties. He has also picked up 159 wickets with a best of 5/27, which is one of two fifers he has taken.
