Veteran English cricketer Heather Knight has confirmed her retirement from international cricket. Knight has made the announcement public, saying that she will say goodbye to the game at the end of the ongoing Lord's Test against India Women. The historic match at the home of cricket is Knight's 320th and last international outing for England Women as a result.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made the announcement official via a public release on Day 2 of the Test match, moments after Knight had scored 6 off 25 in the first innings in England's 170. She said it is an extremely difficult task for her to walk away from international cricket, having made her debut in 2010, but she also feels fulfilled with how her cricketing journey has been.

"I'm extremely grateful and privileged to have gone on the journey that I have been on as an England cricketer," Knight said in a statement.

"It's hard to walk away because the dressing room and the people in the dressing room have been a constant in my life for 16 years, and the memories and the experiences and the people have helped shape me become who I am today, but I'm really content with this decision, and I'm really excited for what's next," she added.
