Delhi:In the fifth and last T20 match being played between England and India in Southampton, the host team gave a brilliant display of explosive batting. On the basis of stormy innings by Jos Buttler and captain Harry Brook, England scored 257 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. This is the highest total made against India in T20I. Now to register the first win in the series, Team India will have to achieve a difficult target of 258 runs.

Butler and Brook destroyed Indian bowlers

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first, but this move completely backfired. Prasidh Krishna gave India the first success by dismissing Phil Salt (6) early, but after this, Jos Buttler and Harry Brook took the Indian bowlers seriously.

Both the batsmen made a record partnership of 233 runs in just 102 balls for the second wicket. This was the second highest partnership for any wicket in T20I. This historic partnership completely turned the match in England’s favor.

Jos Buttler played captaincy style innings

Experienced batsman Jos Buttler attacked the Indian bowlers from the very beginning. He scored 131 runs in just 64 balls, which included 12 fours and 8 sixes. His strike rate was 204.69. Buttler has become the player to play the biggest innings in T20I against India. He broke Evin Lewis’ 9 year old record.

On the other hand, captain Harry Brook remained at the crease till the end. He scored unbeaten 95 runs in just 45 balls. During this, 4 fours and 8 sixes came from his bat. During this innings, he had crossed the mark of 50 runs in just 19 balls. Brook has become the joint second player to score the fastest half-century against India in T20I. Brook played an important role in taking England beyond 250.

Indian bowlers were completely ineffective

Indian bowlers did not appear to be in rhythm throughout the match. Prasidh Krishna took one wicket for 38 runs in 4 overs. Shivam Dubey did take two wickets in the last overs, but by then England had scored a huge score.

At the same time, Akshar Patel spent 63 runs in 4 overs, Prince Yadav spent 60 runs and Suryansh Shedge spent 39 runs in 3 overs. Arshdeep Singh also could not take any wicket.

India faces the challenge of first win of the series

Team India, which has already lost 3-0 in the series, now faces a mountain-like target of 258 runs.
