The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that there will be a review meeting after the tour of England. The decision has been made after India’s failure on the UK tour following their success at the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Since the start of the international assignments, the Men in Blue have lost five out of six T20Is they have played, with one game called off due to rain.

The five defeats have resulted in two consecutive series losses, including against Ireland last month.

The BCCI is not pleased with the performance of the national squad. “The BCCI is looking at the performance of the Indian team in T20Is, which hasn’t been up to the mark in England,” BCCI secretary Saikia told news agency PTI on Friday.

Saikia hinted that there will be no knee-jerk reaction, with PTI confirming that head coach Gautam Gambhir’s job is safe.

“The results are not abnormal, and such things happen in international cricket. It is a bad phase.

Once the ODI series gets over and the players and support staff return, we will have a review meeting with the core members of the Indian team to discuss the shortcomings in England. We are hoping to see better performance from the ODI team in the upcoming series,” Saikia added.

Saikia mentioned that the review meeting will be only about the performance of the team and the way forward. Nothing else will be discussed during the meeting.”

Apart from Gambhir, Ajit Agarkar, the chairman of selectors, will also attend the review meeting. However, there is no confirmation whether India T20I skipper Shreyas Iyer will be available since he is expected to leave for Zimbabwe for a three-match series.

The new development comes only a few months after the Indian National Cricket Team won the global tournament at home, becoming the first team to win three Men’s T20 World Cups. It is expected that Gambhir will be retained as a coach, considering India’s victories in the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2026 T20 World Cup so far in his tenure.
